Cade's Bay
Cades Bay is recognised as one of the sites of first European settlement on Antigua. It is a fertile coastal plain in the lee of the Sherkerley Mountains, and protected by a large barrier reef.
Although there is evidence of an Archaic Age presence, the most prominent pre-Columbian archaeological deposition is (Arawak) Saladoid period or early Ceramic Age.
Today, the site is used for the cultivation of pineapples, and therefore quite disturbed. Nonetheless, significant finds have been recovered during the ploughing episodes.
